Okay, so maybe I am so anti-social that it has spilled over to the Holidays (or calendared events as I like to call them), any Holiday, or maybe it is just the anarchist in me.
The 4th of July is this Monday and everywhere folks are preparing to do what it is they think they should be doing for this holiday: BBQ, swim, fireworks etc. I have been having a hard time with a simple date on a calendar dictating what I should be doing. I know it is a reason to celebrate but why should I join in the predetermined stereotypical festivities. Ugh. Maybe I am just the party pooper? I know we will BBQ and swim and go watch some sort of disappointing firework show but it is just getting old or maybe I am just getting old.
I hope everyone else enjoys the holiday. Be safe with the pyromania!

By book or by Nook
I received a Barnes and Noble Nook as a Mother's Day gift this year, something I did not ask for. At first I was hesitant about this form of technology. Though I am a avid and sometimes rabid book reader, when I have the chance/time, I love the feel of a book and staring at a screen to read after I stare at a computer for 9+ hours at work was not appealing.
Boy had that opinion changed.
Through different sites I have found that there are folks out there who "loan" ebooks and that most of the books are not that expensive. There is a list of books that I want to read, but do not want to own, and these titles fit in perfectly with the Nook. I got my first book, Heat Wave by the fictional Richard Castle. Watching the show and loving the character I wanted to see how the book would translate. I downloaded it and finished it in a matter of days. The Nook is totally comfortable in my hands and the turning of the pages was easy. I read in bed, in the kitchen while cooking, outside while not wanting to socialize with in laws...I read everywhere and anywhere.
I have since downloaded many more books and have not only the appetite to read again but an awesome format to read on. In the past two weeks I have finished two books and am now on my third. With traditional books I do not think I would have done this. I have a habit of reading more than one book at a time and having them all at my fingertips is beyond exciting.
I know there are some who think this technology will ruin the book industry but I remember when they also thought taping songs off the radio would hurt the music industry, that iTunes would hurt it etc. There is a section in the New York Times Bestseller list for ebooks...it's a validated format and I love it.
Now, will I give up reading traditional books, heavens no! But the nook is forever with me and I love having a choice.

Need to catch up and a giveaway.
I tell myself daily that I need to blog more. I need to read more. I need to exercise more, cook more, sleep more, play with the kids more...ugh. I guess it can boil down to managing my time better but with this current 4/10 schedule I feel lost and exhausted.
I have begun a new workout routine that is challenging for my sedentary lifestyle of desk clerk/manager. The most challenging aspect is eating; when and what. I usually don't eat until I am up for a few hours; I used to wake up at 5:30 and have only coffee until about 8:30 when I would eat oatmeal at my desk at work. Now I am up an hour earlier; 4 freaking 30am!, and cannot seem to eat that early. But if I don't eat, I am starving the rest of the day. I don't want to be counterproductive with my attempts at weight loss but I am confused.
I saw this post and giveaway from The Health Seekers Kitchen Blog and was reminded of the Vega products. I have heard a lot about the shakes and wonder if they could be a great new addition to my routine. Here is to hoping and here is to maybe blogging more, or sleeping more, reading more, working less?
